Yahara Portal

Explore the legacy and future of the Yahara Lakes and Watershed

About

Yahara Portal is hosted by the Dane County Office of Lakes and Watersheds to serve as a one-stop-portal to all things Yahara. You’ll find information about watershed history, science, and management here. You’ll learn about the many organizations working to improve the Yahara Watershed and its lakes that are so important to this region and its economy and quality of life.

Much of the resources gathered or created by the Yahara Lakes Legacy Partnership can now be found on this site. The Yahara Lakes Legacy Partnership was created to coordinate, support, and provide for communication among separate public and private initiatives that emerged independently in fall 2007, each responding to identified needs for visioning and planning for the Yahara Lakes. The partnership supported the Yahara CLEAN Memorandum of Understanding between the state Departments of Natural Resources, and Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, Dane County, and the City of Madison.

In September 2010, the Yahara CLEAN partnership released its report, A CLEAN Future for the Yahara Lakes: Solutions for Tomorrow, Starting Today. This report, along with the modeling and other technical studies completed for the CLEAN partnership, was the foundation for the 2012 Yahara CLEAN Strategic Action Plan.
